Get started with Recipes

Overview

Recipes are combinations of Ingredients and other Recipes (Subrecipes).

Enter details about a Recipe:

  • name
  • Yield
  • Notes
  • Photos
Recipe Detail Features
Yield Enter Yield amount, which is the amount produced by this Recipe.
Yield Unit Create or modify the unit for Recipe Yield. Select a different measurement unit. Or create a new Abstract Unit, that is, Recipe Unit.
Notes Enter Notes to capture a quick thought, ideas, and more.
Photos Add unlimited Photos to this Recipe.

Create a new Recipe

iOS and iPadOS
  1. In the All Recipes list, tap the Add button to create a new Recipe.
  2. Enter a name for your new Recipe.
Android
  1. In the Recipes list, tap the New Recipe button.
  2. Enter a name for your new Recipe.
Web
  1. In the Recipes tab, click the Create Recipe button.
  2. Enter a name for your new Recipe.
  3. Enter details about your new Recipe, or set it up later.

Add an Ingredient to a Recipe

iOS and iPadOS
  1. In a Recipe, tap add component, then tap add ingredient
  2. Select an ingredient.

    You can use Ingredient Groups to filter the list of Ingredients.

  3. Enter Ingredient amount.

    You can select a different measurement unit or create a new Abstract Unit.

Android
  1. In a Recipe, tap the Add Ingredient button.
  2. Select an ingredient.

    You can use the Search feature to find an Ingredient.

  3. Enter Ingredient amount.

    You can select a different measurement unit or create a new Abstract Unit.

Web
  1. In the Recipes tab, click to select a Recipe.
  2. Click the Add recipe ingredient button.
  3. Select an ingredient.

    You can use the Search feature to find an Ingredient.

  4. Enter Ingredient amount.

    You can select a different measurement unit or create a new Abstract Unit.


Add a Subrecipe to a Recipe

iOS and iPadOS
  1. In a Recipe, tap add component, then tap add recipe
  2. Select a Recipe.

    You can use the Search feature to find a Recipe.

    Tip:

    Tap the Add button to add a new Recipe and set it up later.

    Enter a name for the new Recipe.

    Enter details about your new Recipe, or tap Back to set it up later.

    Select the new Recipe to add it to the Recipe.

  3. Enter Subrecipe amount.

    You can select a different measurement unit or create a new Abstract Unit.

Android
  1. In a Recipe, tap the Add Recipe button.
  2. Select a recipe.

    You can use the Search feature to find a Recipe.

    Tip:

    Tap the New Recipe button to add a new Recipe.

    Enter a name for the new Recipe.

    Enter details about your new Recipe, or tap Back to set it up later.

    Select the new Recipe to add it to the Recipe.

  3. Enter Subrecipe amount.

    You can select a different measurement unit or create a new Abstract Unit.

Web

See and modify a Recipe

iOS and iPadOS
  1. In the All Recipes list, tap to select a Recipe.
  2. Modify the Recipe’s details.
  3. Tap Delete recipe to delete.
Android
  1. In the Recipes list, tap to select a Recipe.
  2. Modify the Recipe’s details.
  3. Tap , then Delete to delete.
Web
  1. In the Recipes tab, click to select a Recipe.
  2. Modify the Recipe’s details.
  3. Click , then Delete to delete.

Automatic calculations

Fillet automatically calculates a Recipe’s Food Cost and Nutrition:

  • Food Cost

    Total cost of Recipe Components (Ingredients' prices and Subrecipe cost)

  • Nutrition

    Total Nutrition of Recipe Components

Calculate Recipe cost

Fillet uses Price information from the Recipe’s Components to calculate cost.

Recipe Components are Ingredients and Recipes (Subrecipes) used in a Recipe.

If Fillet cannot calculate cost for a Recipe, you will see error messages.

Each error message has an explanation and options for resolving the error.

Error messages

Error Resolving the error
Ingredient in Recipe does not have at least one Price Tap Set Price and you can resolve the error by adding a Price for that Ingredient.
Subrecipe does not have Food Cost because of its own costing errors Tap “Resolve” to see the Subrecipe and resolve the errors there.
Ingredient or a Subrecipe using an incompatible unit in Recipe Specify conversion, select different price, or change unit to compatible unit.
